Poor signage makes it hard to find!!! Rooms need significant modernization, especially bathrooms and tile work. Charging for parking can lead to confusion.

The meal we had was genuinely excellent, a highlight of our stay.
The room had a persistent musty odor and the decor was extremely outdated.

the room was clean and tidy, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. they have a nice pool and gym, and the prices are really cheap. check-in was easy too which is a plus. the location is decent, close to bus stops for getting around the city. breakfast was ok, with a few options available.
but the room had a bathtub even tho i specifically asked for a walk-in shower for my mum who can't manage the tub.

Had a fantastic time with friends! The hotel is ideally situated for exploring the breathtaking trails in the area and visiting nearby parks where we encountered beautiful wildlife. Plus, the beds were really comfy, and the bar prices were a steal. Friendly staff made our stay even better. Would definitely come back for the great location!
Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the bathroom was quite disappointing. the toilet was not up to standard, which put a damper on things.

Great location, friendly staff!
We stayed here for a night and loved the spot! Rooms were decent, got a nice triple room for the fam. Breakfast was a steal too—good food for the price. On the flip side, the beds were kinda wobbly, we both woke up with sore necks. The bar area is cozy though, perfect for hanging out.

The location of Ox Hotel Carlisle is fantastic. Right in the center, with great views. The staff welcomed me warmly at check-in. The room felt dated and had dust in the corners. The bed wasn't comfortable. I woke up stiff. A few cobwebs were noticeable, which gave the impression of neglect. The bathroom had no plug for the sink, and the shower had a slow flow. the hot water was constant, which I appreciated. Breakfast options were limited, lacking fresh fruit and pastries, but what was available tasted good. The atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant. The restaurant staff was friendly, making dining enjoyable. I thought it was worth the price at £33 for a night, considering the central location.

This hotel is ideally situated for exploring the Lake District and the Scottish Borders. We enjoyed the convenience of being close to the town centre, which was buzzing with shops and entertainment. The staff was friendly, and breakfast, although basic, was decent and filling.
My children wished for better soundproofing between rooms.
